Repurposing old ladders

I had an idea that I wanted an old ladder to hang my throw blankets on in the living room, and possibly use it to hang Christmas stockings on when it was the season for those....   and when I asked Steve about it, he said we have some old ladders in the shed!  So he pull them out and cleaned them up for me...

We decorated one with grapevines and twinkle lights ...

and, since we need more light in the living room, we hung the other two from the ceiling and decorated with grapevines and bulb lights...

I'm pretty happy with the results!  The best part is that it was a project we worked on together.  Steve did all the physical work, and I supervised  ;)

Decorated for Christmas ...

My Faithful Pals

Daisy was one of the sweetest dogs.  I miss her already.  There is profound sense of loss when we lose our beloved pets.  They bring more enrichment to our lives than we realize. They are faithful.  They seem to listen, when you need a listening ear.  They know how to gain your affection.  We lost Biscuit two years ago, and I still miss him. He was a loyal friend. Losing him was so hard, but I still had Daisy to love on.  Now she’s gone. I’m gonna miss her so much.  I smile when I think of her following me around the house when I'd walk with baby Harrison. Where ever I went, she was right there with me.  She hated being left alone, and she hated thunderstorms.  But she knew she was with people who loved her.

So, I guess the best thing is to remember the good things. The joy they brought.  And not feel sad that they are gone, because this was inevitable.  They both lived a long time. Sixteen is old for a lab.  They're not in pain anymore.  They're not suffering.  They are both at peace now.  But dang it, I’m gonna miss them.

Autumn

Amid the heady aroma of campfires and fallen leaves
Underneath a canopy juxtaposed with fiery reds and brilliant golds
Touched by cool breezes that stroke our hair and kiss our cheeks
Undoubtedly flirting with us before we’re chased indoors by the bitter cold
Moments like these seem to pass as quickly as they come
Never lingering long enough to become unwelcome
